Anyone Can Fly at Urban Promise!
Using resources provided by the Anyone Can Fly Foundation, grant winners Trish Maunder and Julie Kring-Schreifels had another exciting and successful year with CamdenForward School’s third, fourth, fifth and sixth grade students. They studied the artists: Elizabeth Catlett, Aaron Douglas and Horace Pippin, and created some amazing prints and paintings in their respective styles. We took trips to see original works at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, the African American Museum of Philadelphia as well as a full day trip to West Chester, Pennsylvania, Pippin’s hometown and much of the inspiration for his work. As always, it is such a pleasure to teach these aspiring young artists about the contributions of these gifted African American Masters.
Teachers and students are invited to use the lesson plans and research materials from our web site in your own school and classrooms.

Anyone Can Fly Foundation
"Students in the CamdenForward School art classes have been very busy this year creating art based on the work of two prominent African American visual artists from the time of Harlem Renaissance. These studies and artworks have been made possible by a grant from The Anyone Can Fly Foundation, (www.anyonecanfly.org) started by the contemporary artist, Faith Ringgold whose work can be seen in museums and galleries worldwide."
